Gabrielle started her professional career as a journalist on The Star in Johannesburg (South Africa's largest daily newspaper) then travelled to the U.S. on vacation and ended up staying more than 20 years. She founded and published The Ultimate Dining Guide of San Diego then worked at Business Wire, a U.S based global newswire service, both in San Francisco and Virginia, in addition to opening their first international office in London.

A world traveller and nomad who thrives on change, Gabrielle and her husband, Skip, sold their house and got rid of most of their personal belongings
and bought a one-way ticket to Cambodia in the summer of 2010 . She is now volunteering at an NGO in Phnom Penh, writing freelance articles, contributing with her husband, Skip, to their blog at http://meanderthals.posterous.com and taking time to peel back the layers of life in Cambodia in observing the fascinating world around her.
