Chaotic jazz music plays from inside of a dive bar in the late morning.

The music sounds louder inside. One or 2 patrons drink at the bar and the bartender cleans glasses.
Fido and Grease Squirt play air hockey at a table.
"So tell me what happened, Fido?"

"What do you mean?"
"How did you make me?"
"I made you out of motor oil and dirt."
"How did you make me conscious?"
"I don't know how. It was kind of an accident. I had to make you look real. Just something I know how to do. Do you know how you became that Oozle Pool yesterday?"
Grease Squirt shakes its head.
Fido scores a point. "Pay attention."
"Where did you come from?"

The conversation continues as the galaxy rotates.

"I don't know but I think, I mean, I suppose that I'm a delusional personality of Bugs'. And by extension you are too."
"Yet we're capable of independent thought and action."
"Yoop."
"So we're beings created from Bugs' subconscious, or something.?"
"I guess so."
"And where did Bugs come from?"
"He had a Mama and a Papa. They screwed, the rubber broke and a sperm out of 5 million penetrated Mama's egg. And you know the rest."
"So he's really real, and we're not."
"I wouldn't say that."
"What would you say?"
"Well, you seem to be making the point that since there seems to be a cause and effect time space biological explanation for Bugs that makes him more real than us, me a subconscious construct of his 'insanity', and you, a conscious construct of mine. While his existence may arguably have some basis in a causal context, our existence then must too, at least in some tangent causal context, that is, Bugs' subconscious."
"Say what?"
Fido scores another point. "Pay attention. I'm saying that anything any conscious being imagines or dreams exists. Anything you imagine exists, if only briefly in your mind."
"So we're really real?"
"Just as real as anything."
"Just as real as these guys in here?"
"Just because these schmos can't see us doesn't mean they're any more real than we are."

Bugs performs again in the same place as the last time. The black tar still covers him.
"Ice mask drive trumpet witch grow balloon hat glass tickle
juice lawn switch trickle rabbit fear meat pool chuckle jello
fish lips fish lips kiss my ass fish lips
don't ask a question if you won't like the answer
your got an ugly wife but she's a real good dancer
dance dance dance dance
you got taco chips in your pants"
A few people drop money.
Jumpcut> A small audience has gathered. A few seem hypnotized by his madness.
A woman drops a $20 in the lunchbox. Soon Bugs finishes the song and looks at her. She stares at him in wonder.
Bugs leans toward her gently. He points to her forehead. "Bump my head."
She hesitates but a moment then complies. To her his black tar stained face looks big with one huge eye in the middle.
"I'm a CYCLOPS. WOW!"
She screams. Everyone laughs. When she recovers she cracks up too.

Bugs still performs. But when he hits the keys of the Synth the batteries die and the toy instrument goes silent. He improvises, kicking a wastecan and slapping his thighs and chest hard to the beat as a drum. His frenzy increases.
"jig jam jig jam jigga jigga jigga jam
ice cream ice cream i want ice cream buy me some ice cream
it's all fun and games till the Queen comes home!"

Downtown that night a woman stands with a bucket of roses on the street. From across the street Bugs looks at them. He crosses the street, walks up to the bucket and looks at the flowers. The woman ignores that he's covered in black filth.
She asks, "Would you like a rose?"
He doesn't answer but keeps on staring at them. She remains pleasant and relaxed.
"Let me smell one," he requests gently.
She hesitates, but complies. "Pink, yellow or red?"
He shrugs. She picks out a big round yellow one. He grabs it and smells it.

The channel changes:

Bugs looks at Rose smoking cigarette in the mirror, the flower on her neck and the thorny twisted stem climbing her body.
Â
The woman hints "Its $3 dollars." Her voice interrupts the memory of his delusion.

The channel changes:

Bugs thinks it over and decides to buy the flower. He gets a $1 and $2 in change from his pocket. The woman, remaining diplomatic, only seems mildly disapproving of Bugs' grime on the money.

Bugs walks into a fast food restaurant.
Â
He enters the restroom and goes to the sink mirror. She appears on the other side looking at a photo. Bugs can see her point of view. The photo shows a school portrait of himself when he's like 14.
The burly fast food manager walks into the restroom. "I need you to leave the premises, pal."
"What, huh, what?"
"Or I can call the police."
"Yeah, sure, ok." Bugs makes for the door.
"You know, you could probably get a shower and some clothes at Jesus Saves downtown."
"Sure, sure, sure, ok, sure, yeah, sure." Bugs shuffles out

In front of the fast food joint as Bugs walks off Fido join him.
"So, do you remember Rose yet?"
"Yeah, a little. I just had a flash."
"What did you remember?"
"Not much. We lived in a house with our families somewhere in town. Do you know where it is?"
As they walk down the street Grease Squirt joins them from behind.
"Yeah. We'll go tomorrow. Maybe it'll jog your memory. It's getting kind of late now," Fido tells Bugs.
"Do you know where she is?"
"No. But maybe you'll find out. Let's go get some gasoline and clean you off. Got any money? I'm hungry."
"Yeah, yeah. I was just waiting for you to ask. Let's not go here though. Let's find a laundromat too so I can boost some clean clothes."
The three go along their way.
